My husband never thought it would happen, but it has. Me? I knew it would eventually! Ever since watching the Disney movie Frozen my girls have gone into a princess frenzy. Over the summer they had a few chances to meet "Queen Elsa" and my youngest girl Elizabeth still talks about it. I broke down and bought both of them some Elsa dresses and we also ran into a Snow White one for cheap so I couldn't pass it up. I've gone out a few times to capture their excitement and adorableness in the dresses! Enjoy :D I got a call from Alyssa from Alyssa Rae Photography back in July. Her regular second shooter had just injured her leg and she had a wedding to shoot the August long weekend and was in a time crunch to replace her SS. I quickly scrambled to make sure I'd have someone home watching the kids and of course said YES! I had such a great time hanging out with the guys and learned a lot from Alyssa. One major thing was switching from aperture priority mode into manual. I was blown away from the difference it gave me and the more control I had. I wish I had only known at the beginning of the day! It's taken me a while to post due to our move but we are almost all settled and thought it was long past due! Hope you enjoy and I'll be teaming up with Alyssa once again in October! I have known Malayne for almost 5 years now. We met on the island when we both attended a first year bible college program called Kaleo. For 8 months we did life together along with 23 other students. No matter where life has taken us through these past 5 years we still are connected by our time in Kaleo. I made a huge trek out to Edmonton to witness her and her fiance Matt tie the knot on July 19th! I have been wanting to expand my photography into weddings for awhile now so while at the wedding I took more pictures than I usually would if I was attending a wedding. I tried my best not to get in the way of the hired photographer, so I wouldn't use a flash or be in the not greatest angle, but I am pretty happy with the ones I was able to capture regardless! I even followed them to a field at sunset and watched their photographer capture some amazing shots while popping in a few of my own. All credit goes to Ryan Jackson Photography for the location and ideas in the field! Be sure to check out his blog, here when he posts his amazing shots. My favorite and most blessed memory of the day, was the complete and utter joy Malayne had ALL day/night! Congratulations Matt and Malayne! I wanted to post these photos for my beautiful mommy before I take a break for the next month and a half. My mom turned 60 at the end of May and I made her dress up and dragged her outside at her farm to snap some photos of her. I think my mom is beautiful inside and out. She was a single mom after making the decision to leave our abusive father and worked her butt off to give me and my sister a life full of love and comfort. It wasn't always easy for her and for us (especially those teenage years!) but she found the strength to carry on. My sister and I both have amazing families now of our own and her strength she showed all those years now gives me the strength on those days I feel I don't have it in me. She's also always there when I need to ask how to cook fish ;) Love ya mommy! This birth story was a little bit bitter sweet for me. I absolutely love capturing birth stories however right now with my kiddos being so young and only having one van it has been a little too hectic. I am so glad that I had one last opportunity this year to be a part of such an amazing gift of someone's lives. I met with Angela a while back and right up until seeing her again at Langley Memorial we stayed in contact emailing each other. This is one of my favorite aspects of being a photography, meeting new people and building relationships that you may have never had before. Angela's labor was definitely one of the most intense and emotional for myself. Contractions were intense and right on top of each other but she labored as long as she physically could with her amazing husband Geoff beside her every step of the way. I held back tears (maybe one squeaked out) numerous times. I always knew how special every birth is but Angela made me see it with my very eyes! Thank you so much Angela and Geoff like always I feel truly honored to have been apart of yours and baby Royce's birth story! I have wanted to post these photos for a while now however I have had the hardest time finding the time to get this blog up and running. I hope to keep posting recent sessions like I used to with my old website. So without further ado here is the beautiful Hannah family. I went to high school with Hayley and over the years we have chatted about babies and toddlers as our families have grown over Facebook or Instagram. She has 3 beautiful children like myself all similar in age, other than baby Meah. I was thrilled when she asked me to capture their beautiful family so I could finally meet them all! And they were just as cute and loveable as I thought they would be! |
